Those in authority

"When the governor saw what had happened, he believed; for he was greatly amazed at the teaching about the Lord." (Acts 13.12 GNB)

It is exciting when people in authority convert to become Jesus followers or when believers rise to position of authority. Theoretically, they can influence many things for the good of God's kingdom on earth.

But it is also cringey, because no believer is perfect. Being in authority, believers shortcomings or mistakes can become the centre of attention and may be perceived as hypocritical.

Believers ought to pray for them that God would protect them and keep their hearts pure. God places them in authority for a reason.

I ought not be overly sceptical of them, but to recognise that their job is not as easy as it seems.

"I urge that petitions, prayers, requests, and thanksgivings be offered to God for all people; for kings and all others who are in authority, that we may live a quiet and peaceful life with all reverence towards God and with proper conduct."

(1 Timothy 2.1-2 GNB)

Lord,
please protect your children who are in positions of authority.
May they accomplish your plan in your way, faithfully.
