“When Paul and his companions had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where there was a Jewish synagogue. As was his custom, Paul went into the synagogue, and on three Sabbath days he reasoned with them from the Scriptures, explaining and proving that the Messiah had to suffer and rise from the dead. ‘This Jesus I am proclaiming to you is the Messiah,’ he said. Some of the Jews were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas, as did a large number of God-fearing Greeks and quite a few prominent women.”
(Acts 17.1-4 NIV)
Paul proved that Jesus is the Messiah, he came, died, and rose from the dead. Many Jews and Greek, men and women, understood the proof and believed. They probably have heard of the news about Jesus and after hearing the full account firsthand from Paul, they decided to follow Jesus. Many people, nowadays, believe things they read or watch on the internet but they would not believe what the Bible says about Jesus. But knowing and following Jesus the Messiah is more important and consequential than some current trends in social media platforms.
Maybe many opposes the Gospel because of their perceptions of Christians - they are put off by how Christians behave. The devil can easily muddy the proofs when Christians do not behave like Jesus.
As a Christian, I need to always remember that I am an open book that others are reading and watching. Am I proving Jesus lives and that he is the Messiah? Is my daily life a living proof?
