More open-minded
"As soon as night came, the believers sent Paul and Silas to Berea. When they arrived, they went to the synagogue. The people there were more open-minded than the people in Thessalonica. They listened to the message with great eagerness, and every day they studied the Scriptures to see if what Paul said was really true."
(Acts 17.10-11 GNB)
Being open-minded is not the same as being gullible. Open-minded people understand that if there is a new claim, they can check and validate its truth against the Scriptures. No hand waving rhetoric. No blind follow-the-speaker/author.
Being open-minded is about listening to the Holy Spirit, howsoever the Spirit speaks.
I ought to study the Scriptures well to be more open-minded. I ought to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit to open my mind to what God wants me to do, not what other people want me to do.
