“Godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world.”

(1 Timothy 6.6-7 ESV)

Many contented non-Christians are happier and nicer than many “godly” Christians. And uncontented “godly” Christians can be a pain.

Godliness does not guarantee contentment, unfortunately. The pursuit of goals can make people lose sight of all they should be contented with.

But when I am godly, shouldn’t I pursue only God more than other pursuits? And if I have God, then I should be content, right?
