Human was made in the image of God. That image was broken when human fell into sin and pursuing holiness is an attempt to restore that image. Loving is an expression of God's love which were intended to be expressed in and through the originally-made image of God.

The purpose of holiness is to return to the created image that expresses God's true love. Vice versa, God's true love is meant to be expressed through the image which could only be restored and made holy through Christ.

Holiness brings me closer to God. And to others. Holiness through Christ helps me empty myself and thus helps me ("agape") love others. (Philippians 2.3-8) When Christ is the centre of it all, holiness and love converge.
