The missing Christ
Almost everywhere I look, Christmas has been taken over by feel-good entertainment, shopping, and gift-giving that promotes shopping. Non-Christians and even atheists take part in Christmas for the festivities.
Christ is no longer the centre of Christmas and, in fact, he is often missing from Christmas. I am not talking about the "baby Christ in the nativity scene", but Christ the Messiah.
Commercial interests have hijacked Christmas and turned it into something that is no longer about Christ. And many Christians are excitedly swept away in the festivities too, because we want to celebrate and we want to feel good too.
But if Christ is the centre of my life and I live in Christ, I can always celebrate Christ. Every day can be and ought to be a Christ-centred day.
Lord,
please help me live my life
so others can see
that my daily life
is a celebration of Christ
