Up to this word

Every Christian, figuratively speaking, has a line in the sand that she / he would not cross. Different for each individual and possibly evolving according to circumstances and time. It may be conscious or unconscious and, in some cases, may not be fully realised until faced with specific event or people. Be it in a positive way or a negative way.

“And when the blood of Stephen your witness was being shed, I myself was standing by and approving and watching over the garments of those who killed him.’ And he said to me, ‘Go, for I will send you far away to the Gentiles.’”

Up to this word they listened to him. Then they raised their voices and said, “Away with such a fellow from the earth! For he should not be allowed to live.”

(Acts 22.20-22 ESV)

The people listening to Paul paid attention to what Paul was preaching. Until Paul reached their “line in the sand”.

Christians stop growing in faith because they cannot go over certain “line in the sand”. They stop listening to the Spirit beyond this “line”. For whatever reason. Some words or principles or topics can trigger this “line” and close the mind off.

Dear Lord
let there be no line
between me and your Spirit
