The next Christmas
I am not talking about next year's Christmas, but the next coming of Jesus.
"After saying this, he was taken up to heaven as they watched him, and a cloud hid him from their sight. They still had their eyes fixed on the sky as he went away, when two men dressed in white suddenly stood beside them and said, “Galileans, why are you standing there looking up at the sky? This Jesus, who was taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way that you saw him go to heaven.”"
(Acts 1.9-11 GNB)
In the first Christmas, despite being known that the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem, nobody was at the ready there to greet his arrival. The shepherds were there only because the angels told them.
For the next coming, someone coming down from the clouds ought to be noticeable. Except that it does not precisely describe how. Is it going to be with a flying car that everyone in the future be riding in? Then it would be similar to his arrival in Bethlehem - nobody would notice. Or some other means of arrival?
Whichever mode of arrival, I think the more important matter is for me to be ready. Ready for him to come any day.
Maybe today. Maybe tomorrow.
