Rebellion (2)

"When God made his solemn promise, “They will never enter the land where I would have given them rest” — of whom was he speaking? Of those who rebelled. We see, then, that they were not able to enter the land, because they did not believe."

(Hebrews 3.18-19 GNB)

"They" in this context were the people delivered out of slavery in Egypt. Did they not believe as an act of rebellion? Or did they rebel because they did not believe?

They experienced God's undeniable goodness. And God's blessings were enough every day. But they rebelled and they did not believe.

Jesus has delivered me out of my death. It is done. My faith ought not depend on God to "perform or deliver" on my prayers. He does not need to prove anything.

It is up to me to rebel and choose "my own land"; or to believe and obey and enter "the land".
