Many people try very hard to keep up with others and try to outdo others. In wealth, fame, or power. And there is no end; someone somewhere eventually comes along and becomes the next “star”. It is like an exhausting race on the treadmill - running hard and not getting anywhere.

But there is rest in Jesus. He accepts me just as I am. Accepting Jesus and foregoing worldly ambitions, I find rest and peace.

And every time I forget and seek the world’s approval, I become restless and have no peace. It’s easy to forget the promised rest amidst all the noises from the world that vie for my attention.

I need to keep my eyes on Jesus and him only.
