Other people’s “dishes”
When Matt Nusbaum was in the seminary, he lived in a house with several housemates. Among the housemates, they have a rule that everybody has to wash their own dishes.
One day, the dishes piled up in the sink, and nobody seemed to care to wash them. Matt, an organised and disciplined person that he is, made sure that none of the dishes was his.
And while praying in his room, "God I want to serve you," God spoke in his heart, "Go wash the dishes."
"God I want to serve you," Matt prayed again. The same reply came, "Go wash the dishes."
"But they're not even mine," Matt protested.
"The dishes!"
