"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord."

I do not see anybody dropping dead after they sin. So "death" in this context is not an immediate death. Similar to a wage is earned, "death" is earned and recorded / remembered for the sinner. It will come in due course, sooner or later.

Everyone sins. Christians and non-Christians, no different.

Everyone dies. Christians and non-Christians, no different.

The difference is in the hope that through death, God resurrects Christians to "eternal life". Not just those who call themselves "Christians", but Christians who pass God's judgment. See Matthew 25.
