In the darkness

"In Him was life [and the power to bestow life], and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines on in the darkness, and the darkness did not understand it or overpower it or appropriate it or absorb it [and is unreceptive to it]."

When we are in a dark place for sometime, our eyes adapt. We would know how to feel our way around the dark place and eventually we are okay.

And when light shines in this same place, our eyes at first have trouble seeing, as if blinded by the light. And then our eyes adjust and we can see better than before. Some things that we were okay with in the dark, reveal themselves clearer and we find out they are gross.

I can choose to stay attached to them or to replace them with better things that the light reveals.
