"The Father who sent me is with me."
~ John 8.16 NLT
Believing leads to experiencing the Father. Experience leads to conviction which leads to commitment. Commitment is the start of obedience and through obedience, the experience with the Father becomes more vivid.
They come as a package. One without the other makes it incomplete.
The confidence to say "the Father is with me" comes from experiencing his presence then and there. Not a vision or a dream, but pragmatic daily involvements. It is not a one-time event, but a continuous process that needs maintaining. "Working the faith", so to speak.
