".. you will ask in My name, and I am not saying to you that I will ask the Father on your behalf [because it will be unnecessary]; for the Father Himself [tenderly] loves you, because you have loved Me and have believed that I came from the Father."

Jesus does not ask on my behalf. As Jesus' follower, there is no intermediary.
This is different from intercession. Intercession is someone praying for me and there is an intercessor.
"... the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose."

When I pray to God the Father, I communicate with him directly. At the same time, the Spirit intercedes for me.
