God is not stingy

Being stingy due to fear of lacking is different from spending wisely. Fear of lacking is a good motivation to save money and invest it wisely, but I ought to entrust my future needs to God's provision. I must manage money wisely, but I ought not forget that God also pampers.

"... The LORD said to Elijah, “Go to the east and hide by Kerith Brook, near where it enters the Jordan River. Drink from the brook and eat what the ravens bring you, for I have commanded them to bring you food.”

So Elijah did as the LORD told him and camped beside Kerith Brook, east of the Jordan. The ravens brought him bread and meat each morning and evening, and he drank from the brook."

~ 1 Kings 17.2-6 NLT

The ravens did not bring Elijah some manna; they brought "bread and meat". No idea what kind of meat, but I am pretty sure kosher-type of meat, which means good meat.

The LORD was not stingy with Elijah then and he is not stingy now, either.

And later toward the end of Elijah's period, the LORD fed him again. "But as he was sleeping, an angel touched him and told him, “Get up and eat!” He looked around and there beside his head was some bread baked on hot stones and a jar of water! So he ate and drank and lay down again.

Then the angel of the LORD came again and touched him and said, “Get up and eat some more, or the journey ahead will be too much for you.”

So he got up and ate and drank, and the food gave him enough strength to travel forty days and forty nights ..."

~ 1 Kings 19.5-8 NLT

No meat was mentioned this time, but "bread baked on hot stones" sounds delicious to me. (I enjoy fresh baked bread.) And after Elijah slept, he ate some more, enough so that "the food gave him enough strength to travel forty days and forty nights". Maybe not a feast, but nutritious food of sufficient quantity for the long journey.

The LORD provided for Elijah then and he still provides now.

He does not give luxurious things to everyone, but he always gives his followers enough for the needs of the day.
