Buying stuffs / tools / gadgets / whatever to help do something, if they are not well maintained, would not help in the long run. No matter how expensive they are. Will they help? Generally they may, especially in the beginning. In the long run, it depends.

A good tool is only as good as the tool wielder. And a good tool wielder also maintains the tool to stay in top shape, so it can keep producing good result.
