I want to be like ..
Outside the Bible, who is your hero or someone you admire or a successful person that you want to emulate?
Why?
What do you know about her/his true character?
This week I read about a person who built two companies from the ground up and turned it into big businesses in a short time. He was financially successful. He also was respected for his support for "altruism". But he did something he knew he was not supposed to do and it did not go according to his plan. His two companies collapsed and many people lost billions of US dollars.
I admire other people's successes and I want to be successful like them too. But then I read about their true characters.
Is success really worth (figuratively) "selling my soul" to the devil?
Not to me.
I need to always remember that it is okay to be the lowly and humble.
I will remove all proud and arrogant people from among you. There will be no more haughtiness on my holy mountain. Those who are left will be the lowly and humble, for it is they who trust in the name of the Lord.
