"No-one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again." (John 3.3 NIVUK)

A newborn baby does not have any history. The baby starts with "a clean slate". And the only worth the baby has is bestowed by virtue of being born into the parents' lineage.

So it was with us. When we were "born again", we turned into newborns. We ought to let go of our past lives and restart new lives with a clean slate.

Our worth and our values need to follow our heavenly Father's. And we need to "grow up" in our heavenly Father's image.

If we cling to our old values - not our heavenly Father's values - we have not been truly "born again".
