I want to see you
"Open the eyes of my heart Lord
Open the eyes of my heart
I want to see you
I want to see you"
I just found out that Paul Baloche' song - Open the Eyes of My Heart - was based on this verse, according to Wikipedia.
"I ask that your minds may be opened to see his light, so that you will know what is the hope to which he has called you, how rich are the wonderful blessings he promises his people, and how very great is his power at work in us who believe." (Ephesians 1.18-19 GNB)
Makes sense if I look closely at the lyrics.
But as I sang the song last night, I was reminded of other verses.
"Now, I told you that you have seen me but will not believe." (John 6.36 GNB)
"They may look and look, yet not see; they may listen and listen, yet not understand." (Mark 4.12 GNB)
In the course of my activities, I might have seen God, he might have been right in front of me. But I did not know it. And ignored him.
God appears as he pleases, not according to my pre-conceived notion which is clouded by selfish motives.
"When, Lord, did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and would not help you?" (Matthew 25.44 GNB)
But that verse is not the only one. There are other cases where my selfish motives clouded my vision and treat others unlike how I should treat them.
Lord,
help me "see" you.
