Different gospel

"Even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel that is different from the one we preached to you, may he be condemned to hell! We have said it before, and now I say it again: if anyone preaches to you a gospel that is different from the one you accepted, may he be condemned to hell!"

(Galatians 1.8-9 GNB)

The word "preach" can have a few connotations. One of them is "to try to persuade other people to believe in a particular belief or follow a particular way of life" (Cambridge).

This does not happen only from a church pulpit. You and I do that too in face-to-face conversations and also in online conversations. From our computer keyboard or from our phone. It can be in a blog, email, or a post in social media platform.

The point is the intent: to change others' minds to believe in something that I believe.

If I believe the wrong gospel, then I am "condemned to hell". If I get others to believe the wrong gospel, then I am "condemned to hell". Obviously I need to be mindful that I believe the true gospel. And I need to watch what I say - verbally and in writing.
