Be humble, not dejected
It is important that I do not become dejected with my failures and sins. I am a work-in-progress, far from complete - which I will never achieve within my physical body on earth. Without failures, I know I will become proud which leads to various kinds of sins in itself.
Others may think that it is a worthwhile trade off. Sin is sin, so might as well be without failures.
From experience, this does not work for me. "Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall" (Proverbs 16.18 KJV). To each their own. God kept me humble for a reason.
And I rejoice in the opportunity to forget what is behind and to start anew every morning.
"I do not claim that I have already succeeded or have already become perfect.
I keep striving to win the prize for which Christ Jesus has already won me to himself. Of course, my brothers and sisters, I really do not think that I have already won it;
the one thing I do, however, is to forget what is behind me and do my best to reach what is ahead."
(Philippians 3.12-13 GNB)
