Many Christians are concerned with protecting their rights and wealth and lifestyle. They think this is how they can be happy.

But is that "happiness in the LORD"? (Psalms 37.4)

God gives many opportunities to be happy, if I seek happiness as he defines it. One of the ways is to be concerned for the poor.

"You will always have poor people with you .."

(John 12.8 GNB)

"Happy are those who are concerned for the poor .."

(Psalms 41.1 GNB)

Throughout the Gospel, I see that Jesus is concerned for the poor. And I want to follow him.

Lord,
please give me wisdom
to be concerned for the poor
as befitting your plan in me
