“They kept on stoning Stephen as he called out to the Lord, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!” He knelt down and cried out in a loud voice, “Lord! Do not remember this sin against them!” He said this and died.”

I thank God I am not in a position to forgive those who persecute or murder me. It sounds holy and mature and all that, but I do not think I will like the pain. I prefer not to go through something like that, if I may.

But daily I encounter events or occasions or words that annoy or offend or hurt me. Maybe from strangers or maybe from people around me. I can and ought to forgive these.

Every day.

Lord,
please give me a thankful and graceful heart
to not hold it against others,
to not get easily annoyed by others, and
to forgive daily
