Not a competition (2)
I know Apostle Paul talked about race. And there are many competitions in life. But life itself is not a competition.
It is easy to get wrapped up and worked up in daily interactions with people around me when I see others do better than me. She is rich. He looks good. They had nice vacations. His car is very comfortable. Her career is taking off. Etc, etc. I need to ... so I can ... Fill in the blank.
Society has instilled into every generation to think that we can and must do better. What are we trying to achieve? And at what cost?
Is it wrong to want to do better? It depends on the reason and the method and what the end goal will achieve.
God does not have any competition. He is God. Period. So never use him as an excuse.
In my heart, however, many idols are competing for space and trying to push God out of my heart. And these idols are often the drivers for me wanting to do "better", which then give those idols bigger space in my heart. Not God.
This is not what I want. I want God to fill my heart more and more so that he is the only one in my heart. No idol.
I need to keep my heart and mind pure and focused on God.
