Do out of love

I will do this, if I get A, B, and C. I will not do that, if I do not get X, Y, and Z.

In most things I do, there is an expectation of avoiding something or receiving something. Mostly unspoken expectations and even subconscious expectations. Within close circle of family and friends and also within society at large.

And I am not the only one, I think. This is how society works.

The hardest act of Christlikeness is to sidestep this and, instead, do without expecting anything at all. To do out of love, Christlike love.

Not just the big sacrificial acts, but also the mundane daily things. Regardless of privilege or entitlement that I do not need to. I can do it out of love.

Christlike love is love in action.

Lord,
please help me love like Christ loves
