Meaning in the unknown (3)

"Since the children, as he calls them, are people of flesh and blood, Jesus himself became like them and shared their human nature. He did this so that through his death he might destroy the Devil, who has the power over death, and in this way set free those who were slaves all their lives because of their fear of death."

(Hebrews 2.14-15 GNB)

Death is probably one of the biggest unknowable unknowns. The mechanic, biological, chemical, etc are known, but what about what lies beyond it?

And this drives many people to do things. Fear of death is subtle, but very powerful in shaping attitudes and decision-making (directly and indirectly). Those who strive for meaning, fame, glory, wealth do so, probably, because they fear beyond death they become meaningless.

Christian faith believes that there is "life" beyond death: in heaven or in hell. In heaven, those who go to heaven will spend eternity in the presence of God. And this brings significant meaning. Such an expectation elicit hopes in death, not fear of death.

How do I know this is true? I cannot prove it. That is why it is called "faith".
