Trust and obey
"(5) Trust in the LORD with all your heart. Never rely on what you think you know. (6) Remember the LORD in everything you do, and he will show you the right way. (7) Never let yourself think that you are wiser than you are; simply obey the LORD and refuse to do wrong."
(Proverbs 3.5-7 GNB)
This passage is frequently quoted, but usually only verse 5 and 6. However, verse 7 is an integral part of it.
Trusting without obeying is an oxymoron. If the LORD knows more than me and he works in everything for good, then what reason is there for not obeying?
If I do not trust him, then I do not obey. Or if I think I am wiser than him, then I will rely on my own judgment, instead of obeying him.
Trusting with all my heart is demonstrated through obedience.
