Thin slices
Mankind understands God only in thin slices. Some theologians or preachers may understand more than others, but compared to the full knowledge of God, still thin slices. And each slice is heavily influenced by historical cultural context.
Would God be offended if I imagine him in a totally different historical cultural context?
Note the use of "imagine", because the God of the Bible that is identified in Christianity is taught through a historical cultural context. God chose Abraham. Moses grew up in Egypt. Jesus was a Jew. The Christian Bible as we know it was originally written in Hebrew and Greek.
God could have chosen a different historical path and the Bible may read differently. And he is still and will always be God.
The difficulty of imagining God in a different historical cultural context is that there is no guide aside from God's own voice. And how do I know if I am not delusional and hearing my own voice?
Nonetheless, I would not put God "in a box". God is way beyond any "box" that mankind can ever imagine. He is, after all, God of the universe.
