Which “better” is better? (2)

"It is better to have a little, honestly earned, than to have a large income gained dishonestly."

(Proverbs 16.8 GNB)

The biggest arguments for many Christians is on the word "dishonestly". Many will indignantly feel self-righteous and claim "honesty" in how they accumulate their wealth. On the surface, maybe. But unseen? And in their hearts?

God knows my thoughts. He knows my true honesty - not only in regard to earning honestly "by the book", but in intent and in fairness to others. Am I always intentionally honest and fair in all my dealings? Or do I put my interest above others?

God wants me to be content with what I have, even if it seems little compared to many others.
