I heard a new song last night. The lyrics talked about "the you I remember". Which got me thinking: who is the God I remember?

God today is the same God as always. Do I know him only as "that God that I remember"? Or do I know him different from that time? Does my understanding of him keep evolving?

When going through hard times, recalling the God that I remember gives me hope and strength to keep trusting him. But I should not cling to and insists on God to work the same way as "that time". God works in more ways than one. I ought to look forward to his faithfulness, but he may choose to work differently.

And it is for my sake. So I know him better. So I grow. So God can say to me: "you are better than the you I remember".
